FlutesThere is another side to our business that most flutists do not realize exists. I started the company in 1991, building on years of experience in instrument repair. From that time I have not only been repairing, I have also been providing tools and supplies to technicians and manufacturers. Today, my company designs and builds specialty tools and parts for instrument makers worldwide. This keeps us at the forefront of current instrument technology, and allows us a unique perspective from which to understand the instruments

how to buy a flute

The process of buying a flute can be daunting for those without a plan.

Please permit me to provide an outline that may help.  Also, please call us for any consultation.  This is what we do for a living.

Narrow your focus with the following steps.

1:

Determine your budget. What are you comfortable investing?   This is a most fundamental issue. It is our quest to help you find the best flute in your budget. Don’t try $10,000 flutes if you are only ready for a $1,500 flute.

2:

List your desired features. If you must have a D# roller for example, this would eliminate many models. Does it have to be solid silver? Do you need a B foot etc.?

3:

Articulate why you want another flute. If you don’t really know why you want a better flute, it is unlikely you will know when you've found it.   Find the words to describe what you don’t like about your current flute and what you hope to find in a new flute.

4:

Consult with experts. Work with us. We have a depth of experience in matching people with flutes.  This is what a flute specialty shop is all about.  We do not have a vested interest in any one brand as do the manufacturers. We are only concerned with offering the best flutes, and finding the best flute for you.

5:

Try the flutes! It doesn't matter how pretty the picture is if it doesn't feel good, play easily and sound great. After all your homework, you must play the flute.  For this reason, we offer liberal return privileges as well as our convenient flute audition program.
